This is the highest award conferred to the international friends in the field of Chinese Medicine in the history.
The Eurasia-Pacific Uninet, which was founded in the year of 2000 by Professor Winklehner with the financial and logistic support of the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Science and Culture, is a network which aims at establishing contacts and scientific partnership between Austrian universities and Austrianuniversities of applied sciences in China, Mongolia, Russia and countries in Asia-pacific region with 90 member institutions. The network has achieved a great deal of efficient outcomes for the exchange of two countries.

Up to now, 15 items has been awarded national science and technology prizes, such as study on artimesinin, Stagnation of blood syndrome and activating blood circulation, which have displayed the renovation ability and research level of our academy as a national team. As a window opening for international exchange and cooperation of Chinese Medicine, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences has been displayed the charateristics of “High quality, Multiple level and wide field ”. During the last fifty years, we have provided good medical service for senior government officials from dozens’ of countries, worked closely with WHO through 3 WHO collaborating centres in the projects, such as standard TCM terminology, standard acupoints, clinical practise guidelines. In addition, our academy has also linked with world top research institutions and universities, for example, NIH of US, Harvard University, famous companies, like Coco Cola to conduct practical cooperation. Our academy has played an important role in the international development of Chinese Medicine.
Since 2005 when our academy become one of the member institution of Eurasia-Pacific Uninet, both sides have carried out many effective activities in international exchange and cooperation in the field of Chinese Medicine. Suggested and support by Prof. Winkleher, in November 2005 and 2006, Austrian-China TCM Experts Conference had been respectively held in Salzburg and Vienna, and Seminar on the establishment of Sino-Austrian Collaborating Center For Chinese Medical Sciences has been held in Beijing in September 2006. Mover than 100 experts of Chinese Medicine have been capable of exchanging ideas and thoughts on the common issues in the research through these three meetings. Besides, three researchers of our academy have been to Vienna and Graz University for post doctorate study.
The Sino-Austrian Collaborating Center For Chinese Medical Sciences, as a base for Chinese and Austrian experts to conduct research, provides a solid foundation for a more practical cooperation and meanwhile, a condition for linking the experts of two countries to jointly conduct the research. We decided to attach this centre to the newly-built Medical Experiment Center of our academy.
To meet the need of state development of science and technology and TCM, Medical Experiment Center, with academician Li Lianda as the director, was established as a sharing platform for the experimental research and technical support for our academy and even for the scientific renovation in field of Chinese Medicine, which is an non-profitable institution for the research of prospective and explosive projects of Chinese Medicine.
Today, the Sino-Austrian Collaborating Center For Chinese Medical Sciences is formally initiated. We believe, under the guidance and concerns of both governments, as well as the tight cooperation of both sides, we can do a good job for more contributions to the research on Chinese Medicine and to the health of human being in a sincere and conscientious manner.
Finally, I wish the Sino-Austrian Collaborating Center For Chinese Medical Sciences a prosperous future! A great success of 2007 TCM Experts Forum! I also wish a good health of leaders and experts present, everything is smooth! Thank you!
